Why we said like that. It because this VN271 is a kind of lower end Smartphone (still we said smartphone to differs with lower-end phone, which means, it still a Smartphone- though this phone doesn’t have an Operating System. Some others called that a phone without OS isn’t a Smartphone). The Design. Extravert comes with Slide Side Qwerty Bar form factor which means there is a physical Qwerty keyboard for typing input in which it uses by side sliding it out.
The Qwerty keyboard uses in four rows with some of dedicated keys. And for the Display, it uses TFT capacitive touchscreen at 2.8 inches diagonally size (measured). Because the phone do not have many of preloaded applications, therefore no much tutorial on how to use the applications installed in the phone available on the User Manual. There are only few, like how to set the alarm, how to use calendar, or how to user the camera.
For the tutorial how to do “a master reset / hard reset” which better know as factory reset (go back to factory default settings), you can find the help on page 66 of the UM. It said that you had to follow these steps: Unlock the touchscreen > Touch Menu Quick Key > Settings > Phone Settings ? Security > enter four digit lock code > Reset Default > Touch OK > Revert.

I am disappointed with the Extravert. It is fine for talk/text but should not be purchased for the web capability. Many sites (including MapQuest) are impossible to use.
I wish I would have purchased a cheaper flip phone or a higher end smart phone. I fee Best Buy burned me for $100.

Just bought this phone after my other one had a white screen. Had it for over 5 years, so this phone is like a cadillac to me. I don’t text, I do use the web and I don’t talk much, so this is perfect for my use. I must say I had fun setting everything and love the touch screen.
