Samsung released this Galaxy Note 8.0 (8 inches display) as a challenger face to face with iPad mini by Apple. Let’s see whether this device can compete with it, especially this device has special pen, named as S-Pen that the iPad mini doesn’t have. The 8″ display is equipped with TFT capacitive touchscreen that also has 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. It has 16M colors and 189 ppi pixel density.

FYI, this Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110 is the Wi-Fi only version, which means the Note 8 didn’t support GSM or CDMA data network, therefor you can’t see any SIM card slot on this device. This phone announced on the middle of February 2013 and already available on the US market at the end of April 2013. Just wait for a while if in your region this Note 8 didn’t yet available.

The device is attached with non-removable lithium-ion battery that has 4600mAh capacity. This battery plus the body of the Galaxy Note 8 weights 338 grams / 11.92 ounces. It’s embedded on 210.8 mm x 135.9 mm x 8 mm body dimension size or about 8.3″ x 5.35″ x 0.31″ (inches). You can use the device for up to 8 hours to play video music in this Galaxy Note before you need to recharge the battery.

It has capability on recording HD video 720p@30fps with its 5 Megapixel rear camera. Unfortunately there is no LED flash light but it has geo-tagging with A-GPS and GLONASS, touch focus, auto focus, face detection, image stabilization, and for the video calling, it has 1.3 Megapixel front facing camera.

For connectivity features, the device is embedded with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth version 4.0 with A2DP wireless stereo headset, Infrared, and microUSB version 2.0 for high speed data transfer. For the color casing you can choose two version: Black and White-Silver.

    Tablet won’t stay where I want to go, say, to play candy crush, its back on home screen before the game starts. All the king games, …on the front screen, to the left of the wi-fi symbol, is a symbol that looks like an eye..with lashes. It will blink on and off a couple times—what is it and how do I get rid of it? (Makes me feel someone is watching me 😉
